It's intended to be used on a live computer, yes. It's meant to be put on a thumb drive (no installation required, just run the .exe) and taken to a scene for live analysis.

This cannot be strictly true, since it requires the .Net Framework, so unless the suspects machine has the .Net Framework already installed, then it won't work. Which is an issue I have, as I write software using .Net.

Alex,

I watched the video and Chat Sniper looks excellent. The appearance looks great and easy to use. Although limited it looks like you are off to a good start. Best of luck with this.

Regards,

Chris Currier

Yes, it does require the .NET framework to run. I did not consider this much of an issue since the majority of Windows users just accept the framework as an update when Windows prompts them to.

If there is a way to get away from that requirement or somehow pack the dependencies in with the program, I'd love to hear it.

Xenocode postbuild will pack the dependencies into a single exe for use without the framework installed

Thanks! I'll look into that and update asap.

If anybody is experiencing issues with the one-month license file I packed with the program, please let me know your .NET version and OS version.

EDIT Actually, I think I've found the problem. If you're experiencing the error mentioned above, please let me know what your localization and date/time settings are. This program was written with the American date/time format in mind (Month/Day/Year). I have a sneaking suspicion that the people experiencing this problem are probably set to Day/Month/Year.

Alright, I've updated the program so that it's a portable app with all dependencies packaged in with the exe (ie, the .NET framework is no longer required on the host system. Thanks chad131). The downside of this is that what was once a 1 MB program is now close to 40 MB. Oh well.

I've uploaded the new version, so feel free to download the new version at the same URL.

Suggestions and feedback are appreciated.

Hate to triple bump, but I wanted to post a quick question.

Aside from a couple of bug reports, I haven't received any feedback. I was wondering if the 60+ of you that have downloaded my program had any suggestions or critiques. How do you like the UI? Are the features sufficient? If not, what would you like to see?

@agbarnet Can't say. Program just gives back a "license not found"-error. Tried running as admin etc. - no success.

Is the license file (license.dat) in the same directory as the program? The license file is included in the zip file.
