Hello everyone

Anyone has done or still doing CF at London metropolitan Uni? If so, i will be thankful if you can tell me what is your honest point of view about the course itself at this Uni (does it provide a good CF related knowledge) and the training (does the course train the student on Encase and FTK) or other forensicly sound software.

I will appreciate your answers.

Unless you're already employed, and looking to raise your CV, I put it to you that the more important question is what are the employment rates of graduates from that course.

I'd love to hear from someone like David Sullivan as to whether he's averaging more than 100 applications per entry level CF position yet.

Absolutely no disrespect to the OP for asking a different question, it's just that I recently had an email exchange with someone who clearly had no clue how flooded the entry level market is right now.

Thank you Patrick4n6.

I am just asking my question in order to get a real life experience answer from other CF Students who either attended Metropolitan University in UK or who are currently there.

I do know that the CF market is terribly flooded, but don’t you think luck can be on my side?? I am just saying this because I am multilingual speaker and have future plan. Hope it will work.

BTW, i am Unemployed at the moment and thinking, study something during the current recession will be a good investment. I will be starting from 2nd year

The only people I know who can make money in CF being multilingual would be if you speak Farsi or a middle eastern language.

The market is flooded, people come on here all the time and think they can be the lucky one, ya sure, maybe you can be. But to say the odds are stacked against an entry level person would be an understatement.

Some people may have done your course, and thought it was fantastic. Those same people may be unemployed, or certainly not able to get work in CF/IR/ED and so they may not be able to equate the quality of the course content to the expectations of the people who would hire you. So again, I suggest that you consider the employment to graduate rate as a better indicator than some anecdotal evidence.

You may think that a course that teaches EnCase or FTK is the bees knees. I might think the course is crap because they never had you recover files from FAT using a hex editor, or parse an MFT entry with a hex editor, or parse a registry entry with a hex editor. Do you see where I'm going here? Without the experience to know what are really perceived in the industry as core skills that should be included in a course, you have no basis upon which to judge the course content.

Yes I do speak Arabic In addition to another EU language. Which make me thinking this will be a bonus for me in the nearest future, by introducing CF in one of the countries i am planning to go when i feel confident and have a solid knowledge and strong experience .Many countries I know do send for instance a hard drive abroad just to examine and analyse it forensically. Because they do not have trained people to do the job. I am not saying this to justify my choice for CF as career. I already have a background as an IT helpdesk support analyst.

I agree with you 100%, and i do see where you are going with your point. I am finding this forum a very good source of learning from CF practitioners.

So far, I’ve gathered few articles and I am trying to grasp as much as I can from you all on daily basis , because as you mentioned above without a good training and industry knowledge I won’t go far from my nose. Learning things the hardest way will pay off one day. I may be wrong roll

Thanks again for your honest enlightenment.
I will really appreciate any suggestion from you all on how to put myself on the right path so I can start learning more.
