Cheers Colin
Well my test E50 fell flat on its face - lost everything. Thank god for test handsets!

The E50 is pretty old now, have you nothing newer to test it on?
Am going to go and re run one of mine and will report the results shortly…
Ok, so I got out the N96 put some fresh data onto it set the passcode and performed the operation - data remained following successful removal of the lock. This included, calls, messages and media.
The E50 is running an earlier version of Symbian than both of the handsets I have performed this task with and also than the 5230, this could be part of the problem.
Firstly, lets make sure you are performing the task in the same way and see if this is the issue.
Running HWK Suite v2.1.0.1 - DCTxBB5
Connect the software to the box and wait to verify etc..
Connect the and select the correct option as the model from the BB5 drop down list, I notice that the 5230 is not in the list so will assume you are re testing the E50 (RM170/171). Across the top there is a drop down list which displays a '?' by default, change this to 'Local Mode' and wait for the device to enter this mode.
In the top left hand corner change the scenario to UI Options
In the UI Options on the right hand side of the screen select 'Full UI Defaults'.
Click the big start button above the log screen.
Try that process and let me know the results you get.
As it happens, without direct support in HWK for the 5230 how are you going to do this on the exhibit anyway? My apologies for not checking this at the beginning…
Colin
Did you manage to retest this process Triran? If so, what were you're findings?
Sadly our biggest enemy of time went against me testing wise -(
