Has anybody had any luck in extracting the user data from a Nokia Lumia 520.

We have been attempting to use Advance Turbo Flasher but we have had no luck. I'm now looking into using the Riff box but was just wondering if anyone has had any success at all.

Thanks

Hi,

I have managed to do quite a few readings on the Lumia 520. I found in my first few instances that the battery wasn't charged enough to complete the extraction, so the phone died part way through. I have also found the phone needs to be turned on prior to it being connected to the flasher box.

What in particular is failing?

It seems to be having issues connecting, I can't quite remember the exact output I was getting. However I am using a jig so I'm tempted to make a direct solder to the board.

jjh2320 what software was you using?

I used the Riff box from fonefunshop.com (http//www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/riff_box.htm) worked a treat. It does take some fiddling, even with a jig. Sometimes the points don't sit right on the JTAG points.
Another thing to keep an eye on is the wiring between the box and the JTAG ports, with my jig I used a ribbon cable which had to be the right way round for the connections to work.

Dependant on what error you was getting, or at what point it was failing, will filter out what the cause could be.

Keep me posted on how you get on .

Yea we have the Riff box as well but decided to use ATF as we have had a lot of success in reading Nokia handsets.

We brought the Riff box initially to read the EMMC memory (SD Card) from a HTC HD 7 put we have hit a brick wall with that, the handset is only supported for resurrection. We have even had them attempt to support it but have had no luck with that either.

Hi,

Yes we have had success extracting data from a 520 using the RIFF box. We have also had success with the ATF nitro box (on a LUMIA 925). What type of JIG are you using?

Have you got the Dolphin clip with the ATF box? The dolphin Clip JIGS are really useful, as you can see whether or not the pins are sitting in the correct place.

Thanks for your advice guys, I purchased a Jig for the Riff box in the end and I am currently doing a DCC read now, so hopefully it will be an successful read.

I compared the two jigs together and noticed that the jig for the RIFF box had an TRST pin but the ATF jig didn't.
