Good morning all,
I see that some of the posts relate to WP8, which although useful, is different to WP7 and therefore of little use to my situation.
I have used xways which will identify three exFAT partitions, but I still can't map the partition to pull out the folder structure.
A molex cable was soldered to the board and the RIFF box used to obtain the acquisition, could it be possible that an error occurred during acquisition at the point where partition information is held???.
I have also tried a number of data recovery tools on a working copy of the .bin file and again, the partition cannot be seen!
Has anyone seen this on a WP7 phone and were you able to overcome this issue?

With X-Ways I used the Disk Tools> Scan for Lost Partitions to get the exFAT on a windows phone 7 device.

I soldered wires instead of a molex on mine. I also thought that the soldering may have been a problem, however I did a search for 'IPM.SMS' and 'whatsapp' in X-Ways which showed a number of messages in hex view.
I am struggling to get the folder structure but I will try what 'agolding' mentioned. I will report back on this.
Here's an update so far -
We used testdisk and it is able to see the folder structure and the store.vol file is located in applications data/ Microsoft/Outlook/Stores/Devicestores
However, so far we can't open the file using the ESEDB viewer….at least progress is being seen!!!!

Unfortunately, it's not the same database format as WP8, nor that of Windows Mobile.
Perhaps there is a CommsBackup file nearby which might contain at least some of the messages.
Got the CommsBackup file which as you say does have messages so at lease I could use that to build up a picture of the SMS, although there must be a database viewer for it since the phone can interpret the store.vol file!!! (frustrating start to the week 😯 )
I know this is an old thread, but what size soldering tip did people use to solder wires/molex on to the board.
I need to purchase a new tip and was wondering what the best size would be.
Thanks
