I have been passed the torch to organize and maintain the New York City Meet-up group NYC4SEC

NYC4SEC is a group of individuals in the New York City area that meet on a regular basis to discuss matters of information technology security. Hacking, computer forensics, digital investigations, cyber (anything), InfoSec, compliance, electronic discovery.

I wanted to extend the invitation to anyone here on FF that might be in the NYC area that would be interested in the group.

I will do my best to try to schedule regular meetings about once a month to every six weeks. The goal is to get us away from the LCD glow of our various devices to socialize with others in our field.

NYC is a tough area (i.e. expensive) to have conferences so we are sometimes missed. However many of the people who we would want to see at conference pass though NYC regularly. I think if we offer nice venues (and a few beers) we can have some very good guests/presenters in an informal and intimate setting.

Please feel free to join at
Meet-up - http//www.nyc4sec.info/
Linked In - http//www.linkedin.com/groups?mostPopular=&gid=3234057

Thanks! See you soon.

Just joined the Meetup group. I am a couple of hours upstate but I am definitely interested in meeting more people in this field.

Hope to see some of you there.

Grab your TrapperKeepers (I'm rockin' the red Lambo), your Saved By the Bell book covers and Garbage Pail Kids cards to stick on the inside of your locker because it's back to school time.

Pace University is our gracious host and our speaker will be Ovie Carroll who will be in town teaching a SANS Forensics 408 Computer Forensic Essentials Course here in NYC and offered to stop by after a day of training to meet our group.

If you would like to attend the 408 course Ovie has provided a special offer for a class discount! Use "COINS-OC" to get 10% off and to make sure to get into class! http//www.sans.org/new-york-forensics-2010-cs/description.php?tid=4207

More details to follow on specific room location for the NYC4SEC Meet-up but please get your parents to sign off on your NYC4SEC permission slips for Thursday, September 16th @ 7pm

Please RSVP - http//www.nyc4sesc.info

Isn't InfoSec supposed to be adverse to cookies? I know the CISO of an agency I used to work for thought so. lol

Hey all. Just a shameless thread bump. We are happy to have Ovie Carroll here in NYC and welcome anyone in the area to come tomorrow for the meet-up.

7pm at Pace University.

Always great to meet others in the field in person! It's important to keep the forensic community a community.

Don't forget the cake! If that doesn't get people I don't know what will.

Someone has got to take a picture of whatever Jen comes up with for the cake. All I've heard is that it's chocolate, but given that she has some serious baking and designing Kung-Fu, that doesn't tell us anything.

I swear she obtained an engineering degree from the French Culinary Institute along with her culinary degree.
