We were chatting today in the office about an affordable way of speeding up our machines and these came up. With 100 Gig of SSD space, I wonder how they would manage with an image of over 100 Gig. Could end up being the same speed as a conventional drive. Anyone had a play with one of these?

Surely the rotational speed of your source would be your limiting factor here unless you're imaging SSD drive.

I haven't played with a revodrive, but with a Sata II/III SSD, i just love the performance it gives me. Modern SSD drives give you +500MB/second and access times are almost zero.

If i were you i would get two or more 240 GB drives and make a large volume set and forget about the hybrid drive.

Would love to get my hands on one of these,

10TB drive with 6.7 GB/sec transfer speeds. About 10 fold faster than a modern SSD.

I would love to get my hands on the USD 100,000 it would cost to buy even the 5TB version lol

You can do alot to come close to that 5TB/6GB a second with regular SSD and raid, but it takes a bit of hardware knowledge to roll your own. A simple way to gain some performance better than a single SATA 3 SSD would be to get a 480GB Revodrive 3 X2 @ 1.5 GB/sec.

However, if you have the need, and a big budget How about 13 GB/second?
