When sending email from an Outlook account or any other Microsoft email product, I am aware that the email headers only contain the IP address of Microsofts servers in the USA.

Does anyone know if this is the same when sending an email from within their Office 365 platform using MS Outlook?

Hi,

Methodology I used my outlook account xxx@outlook.com. I signed this account into outlook 365 (I used the default account sing-in procedure with no advanced options). I sent an email to another email address (xxx@gmail.com). I looked at the header.

I will not display all the header but those are the relevant points

X-OriginatorOrg outlook.com

The first Received (redacted)
Received from xxxx.namprd06.prod.outlook.com ([fe80c00a856da62xxx]) by xxxx.namprd06.prod.outlook.com ([fe80c00a856da62xxx%2]) with mapi id xxxx; Mon, 29 Apr 2019 122420 +0000

So it looks like even if the outlook.com account is signed-in inside office 365, it definitively go through outlook.com servers.

But as always, never fully trust someone on the internet. Why don't you do your own test, it took me literally 2 min.

Have a nice day.

M.

Hi.
Thanks for taking the time to test and respond, it is appreciated.
I had done my own test from Outlook, but just wanted to be sure it works the same when done in an Office 365 environment, which I don't have.
Thanks again.
