Is there a way of retrieving chat logs stored locally on a machine from Office Communicator (2007 R2). A quick check around the net would suggest that these can only be retrieved from the server… (not something I have ready / easy access to).

Are the conversations dumped into a system folder in an SQL database somewhere that would be visible and retrievable using FTK? I'm stuck to using free / OSS tools unfortunately.

Thanks in advance )

I'd really like an answer to this as well - what's the typical filename of the database? I have access to the server, but plain text searches obviously don't work for me.

Communicator logs locally only if enabled. And when it does, it stores it in an Outlook folder.

Otherwise, the log can be specified to be a text file but if the end user configured it that way.
