Hi all

Just wanted to get some opinions and maybe some recommendations from you on what software people would choose to carry out a forensic wipe. I have used the wiping utility in Helix and the wiping utility within FTK in the past. I have a 1.5 TB Maxtor HDD that needs wiping, and wondered if there were any other software suggestions?

Many thanks
Danielle

Have you looked at the open-source application DBAN? It's free and can be run from a floppy, CD/DVD or flash drive. It'll wipe a wide variety of disks.

We use the wiping function in the Logicube MD5 & Talon because it is faster than using a computer and it produces a report upon completion. If you are just looking to sanitize a drive the aforementioned DBAN or Eraser both work well, especially for the cost.

You will find the wipe utility (wipe.exe) that is part of the FAU to be very fast. http//www.gmgsystemsinc.com/fau/.
