I have a question about the OSX Spotlight. Spotlight is an indexing process on the Mac that will save the information that are gathered in the .spotlight-v100 directory.

I imaged a FAT 32 USB flash drive, and in the hidden .spotlight-v100 folder I investigated the Store-V1 and Store-V2 folder. The flash drive has the Volume label MASTERUSB. In the Store_v2 folder I was a sub folder with a long name of letters and numbers and a file named store.db.

In the file store.db I found the full path to the file store.db. The path was named with the volume name MASTER USB.

But in the Store V1 folder was also a store.db file. In this file I found a Volume path to another volume, named STICK JIM.

What does this mean was the volume name STICK JIM before it was renamed to MASTER USB or was the flash drive formatted and probably renamed to MASTER USB or something else?

Who knows..
