My department recently purchased a Dell Precision 7810 with a Xenon processor to replace our system for mobile device forensics. I loaded UFED 4 PC and Physical Analyzer on the system. Both seem to run fine with one exception. Physical Analyzer gives me an error every time I try to do a physical extraction on an iPhone 4 (A1349). I get a message that states "The specific USB 3.0 port is not supported. Connect the device to a different port on the computer and try again". I have tried all USB ports on the machine 3.0 and 2.0 and get the same message. iTunes is updated. I've stopped and restarted the Apple Mobile Device Services and I've uninstalled and reinstalled Physical Analyzer. Cellebrite is apparently as lost as I am because I'm not receiving much assistance from them. Has anyone experienced this problem and does anyone know of a fix? I greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Hello,

Try making a mobile backup of the iPhone 4 using iTunes and a known password.

if you can create a password protected mobile backup using iTunes, then try to use Cellebrite.

If the iTunes mobile backup creation fails first, then you can rule out Cellebrite as being the cause of your issue.

A password protected iTunes mobile backup can then be processed in, for example, Internet Evidence Finder, etc.

Also, once a successful password protected iTunes mobile backup is created, and if Cellebrite fails, perhaps go the route of Jailbreaking the iPhone 4, creating a full physical image of the phone, and then analyze the resulting forensic image file using EnCase, etc.

Hope this helps.

Have you tried uninstalling the usb drivers for the computer then reinstalling the latest ones from either dell or intel? As it may be the drivers currently installed are the issue. If there the latest and you have uninstalled then reinstalled try an older driver version.

Are you plugging the iphone in directly to the USB port or via the ufed device adapter

Have you checked device manager and looked for issues eg exclamation marks on devices

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. It didn't make any difference. The last word from Cellebrite is they are looking at an incompatibility between the ios physical and the USB chipset in this machine. (Wish they would have told me that when I called them to ask if there were any reported problems with this machine, before I purchased it).

I am plugging the device directly into the machine. I called Dell and verified the marking on the computer case as to which ports are 3.0 or 2.0. I am definitely using 2.0 ports. I've tried every port on the machine.

The latest A Dell tech came out and changed the system board and front i/0 ports. No luck.

Unallocated Clusters I was able to obtain an iTunes backup of the phone. I agree with you, that tells me it's Cellebrite"s problem. Now if I can just get them to expedite and give me a fix.

As far as I know, Cellebrite has a fix for this.

I just sent you a private message.

Best regards,
Ron
