In my opinion, Forensic Focus is the best.

After that there are solution-specific forums (EnCase, FTK, etc.)

I would suggest two things…

First, the Yahoo Group win4n6 is pretty good.

Second, you get out of the forums what you put into them. If you're going to simply lurk, then what you get out the forum is limited. That's true for this forum, the GSI user forums, etc.

Take a look around at some of the questions being asked, as well as some of the initial responses. What are they? In many cases, particularly for questions involving Windows systems, you're likely to see the initial responses of, "what version of Windows are you working with?", particularly from me. 😉

harlan got so sick of asking that he's actually programmed a bot that looks for "XP/Vista/7" and if it doesnt see it it asks for him lol

I get quite a bit out of the Yahoo! group Phone Forensics.

Each vendor tends to have a user forum as well, and I suggest you look there for tips on how to use the specific tools. What you won't find at the vendor forums is a discussion of how to use free tools or even other commercial tools, so make sure you follow generalist forums as well.

It certainly was good. It's heydey was around 2007, since then it's got quieter and quieter. The boards don't even appear to have been accessible for the last couple of months.

Agree with Harlan, resoucrces are good as the people that contribute to them.

I have been able to access them and have posted a few times.
