I have been able to access them and have posted a few times.
I always thought it "didn't count" being it a non-public forum and seemingly reserved to customers ?

NO - like your quote says - its open to practicing forensic specialists.
The product support part (NA, Blade etc. as opposed to general forensics) is a closed forum.

Well the quote actually says

I still think that it is a non-public forum, but thanks ) , I didn't notice the distinction between "Digital Detective Forum" and "Digital Detective product forum" oops , it's good to know that I am not eligible to apply for membership for only one reason and not for two of them.

Jaclaz - I think it is clear from my reply that you are probably (I say probbaly because I dont know you - and anyway I am not associated with the forum other than being a member) eligible for membership.
All "closed" basically means is that it is not open to everyone - this means that it is a forum for the forensic community, somebody who works for macdonalds burning burgers, who may or may not be being investigated for some crime or other, doesn't really fit the description and will probably be denied access.
Lets not try and turn a molehill into a mountain - just ask Craig for access. In the time you have spent typing your responses you could have been in - too much time on your hands perhaps?

No molehills, nor mountains, simple facts.
Being NOT any of
practicing Digital Forensic Specialists, Mobile Device Examiners, IT Security Specialists, Network Investigators and Students enrolled in legitimate Digital Forensic/IT Security courses.
I am seemingly not eligible, and I would never ask for an exception.
I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member"
wink
There is IMHO nothing good or bad or wrong in a "closed" forum, exception made when calling it "open".
I actually "like" rules and try doing my best to respect them.
And no I don't work at a MacDonald's, either.
And yes, maybe I have too much free time on my hands 😯 , but I find not particularly nice of you to remind me about this.

Sorry if you have perceived some offence - as I said earlier I dont know you - I just see about a post a day for the last five years a lot of which clearly show you googling for the answer to a problem (and having taken time to read the T's & C's on the DD forum membership page, when most people would probably just hit enrol) and that make me think you have a lot of free time.
I suppose I am now mildly intrigued - what is your background/job/Interest in forensics if you don't fit the rather broad (and probably flexible) categories on that forum?

Not really a secret/mistery
I happened to get here originally because Keydet89 mentioned the use of VDK to mount images on his blog

I am sure it wasn't hidden - but I only read a small fraction of what is posted on here.
