Possible Handset Examination Risk
There have been many reports of incidences with laptops and handsets over the last five years. Might still be worth knowing though of the possibility of examiner injuries that can occur where handsets have unpredictable behaviour.

I can't say it didn't happen right off, but it seems quite strange that there was this alleged pop and the handset still works? It could have been his off day, but I see he drove to pick up his wife that works? His "working" wife thought he was shot. I wonder if she could be right? I've heard people say that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but I can also tell you that many time your "judging" is usually accurate and can save your life. Mr. Embry looks like what many in LE would call a t**d.
If I'm wrong on this one I'll eat my cyber hat, but I doubt Mr. Embry will be getting a check before Christmas or anytime after that.
That being said I would say that trewmte is correct. Safety should always be considered when doing these types of examinations.
I know that depending on the amount of data a phone might hold or the size of the hard drive one might be trying to mirror the process in certain situations may take hours. I wonder if anyone has begun an examination late in their work day and just let things run all night/ It seems as though some thought should be given to safety in the unlikely event that there was a fire. Smoke detector, sprinkler, extinguisher?
Cheers!
