Just a side note for those who would like to learn Python the website coursera.org offers free uni courses on programming with video lectures, quizzes, graded exercises and a final examination with a certificate.
It can be a nice option for those who don't feel like studying alone in a book.
Two Python courses are currently being taught "Learn to program The fundamentals" and "An introduction to interactive programming in Python". While it may still be possible to join the second course, it's probably too late for the first one. However, have a look at the website as the courses are usually offered every two-three months…
Enjoy!
Udacity also offer a good, free introductory programming course using Python. It has no fixed start date, so you can do it whenever you want!
Generally speaking is there a programming language as an investigator you should know and use above all? As a forensic investigator do you need to know how to programme? If you had to learn or chose to learn a programming language what would it be, C++, Java, C#, Perl, Python or something else?
Thanks,
I shuold go for Phyton since it looks like a merging tool for various tools
perl is a bit losing ground bit it is extremly powerfull
My advice is to looks for tools you'll go to use and see which language fits best
hint is when you learn one or two scripting languages others are easy ..
expecially if you get grasp on basic concepts
