Hey guys, im currently in my last year of a Bsc forensics degree and im currently in deciding on creating a project.
One area that interests me is Cloud Computing, I was thinking of doing a dissertation on the forensic & security side of this. I was mainly just wondering what you guys thought about this.
Any ideas/feedback would be fantastic
Thanks )
Go for it!
lol thanks, thats what my mind has been saying all the time bu im still unsure whether its a reliable project to do
Reliable? Why wouldn't it be? Given the use of the term "cloud" as it is now, I think that this would be a great topic. I was at HackerHalted this past week, and someone mentioned a means of doing forensics in relation to the cloud…they were wrong, but they talked about it. 😉
I enjoyed this recent blog post on cloud computing from Gene Spafford http//
Jamie
Taffy, I think its a great idea. Lots of issues/concerns with "cloud" forensics.
It is a good area but you need to narrow your scope down,
or you WILL get buried on your litrature search, there is a lot of info on Springer, ACM, etc as regards cloud computing.
(remember a good litrature review is complete when you 'loop round' on the papers)
Try to pick an area where there are fewer papers, remember the key to a good dissertation is focus and direction.
Choose Security OR Forensics ,then pick a narrow field within one of those areas, possibly something on the edge of the field, and remember to stay focused.
Thanks for the ideas/comments everyone, really appreciate it.
Ill take these ideas into my meeting with the project organiser soon.
There are loads of different ideas on it I believe…. would be interesting though!! )
