Hello all. This site is ace - well done to all admin and members.

I'm starting a CF degree in september and have been reviewing CF commercial sites with interest.

I've come across this short radio interview with a UK CF expert posted on their website (www.digitaldisclosure.co.uk/Press/tabid/56/Default.aspx) and I have to admit that although a complete newbie, some things stated don't sound correct or appropriate. As a newbie, i'm a bit nervous about stating all of my opinions about it in case i've got it all wrong, but in one part of the interview isn't the expert taking the law into their own hands?? I feel a bit troubled by it which is why i thought ii'd ask the question here.

Whats others thoughts? Is whats said correct?

I hope to be a regular and increasingly useful poster as my knowledge grows.

Interesting post, thanks.

The interview doesn't come across that well to be honest, and of the case where she says she found CP on a clients computer she put it down to a 'Trojan' which must have put it there. Hmmmm… I'm not aware of any case in the UK where the 'Trojan defence' showed that malware put CP on a computer. Would sure like to look at that at that particular investigation! )

Looks like it's been removed, or I'm going blind at the prime old age of 23!

Kind Regards,

It was (from memory) a link to an audio on Radio Stoke. The interviewee is the owner of the company the original link was to. You may be able to find the interview on the radio station's website if you look hard enough.

The website was registered 23rd April 2008, I guess it was their wealth of experience that made them qualified make such outlandish claims. lol

Guess it's the silly season for the trojan defense.

Greetings,

Their LinkedIn page is now gone, too.

You can find a cached copy via Google.

I've been lurking on this site for some time and most of the content is useful and informative. However, some of the posts make me extremely happy that I do not work in computer forensics - I thought consultants could be nasty! What's next? Make an effigy of this woman and stick pins in it?

A cursory search for "Trojan Defence" brings up

I agree with RobRoy's post about some of the posted comments on here, quite a few are informative and helpful but there are some that seem to be personal and nasty. Also just because the website was created in april does not mean that they have only just started working in forensics.

Apart from an opinion, can you guess what else you share?

Jamie,

I don't need to guess what else I share with Tigger - I know. We share a house, a dog and a wonderful civil ceremony on May 1 this year. As previously stated we also find this forum informative and we both dislike the nastiness that occurs on occasions. The point that Tigger was trying to get across is that just because a business may be new doesn't mean that the people who run it are new to the business. We have a friend who is a printer who started his business a few months ago. However, he has over 15 years experience in printing because he worked for other companies before starting his own. The fact that his business has only been operating for a few months does not negate his experience.
