I have a problem with a RAID 5 I'm working on. It's a 5-drive array. The biggest problem is it has become difficult to get the infomation out of this RAID.

The volume lost the configuration, I have gone through a host of utilities that I use in cases like this, Raid Reconstructor can't determine the stripe, R-Studio finds numerous partitions, and the one that actually contains the right file structure and data, is completely full of corruption.

same thing with Get data back i get all the data in its correct size and name's but all is corrupt

i seem to have hit a dead end and would welcome some suggestions, i have been at it and cant seem to find its end

i would think there lies some hope in raw recovery if i build an image off the drives which i have done with both get data back and r-studio, but what can i use to carry out a raw recovery

or what other utilities can i look at in terms of reconstruction and solution in this case

All help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have used Encase to reconstruct RAIDs successfully. Is it a hardware or software RAID? If you don't know how it was set up, research the controller and see what the default values are. Try them first. Software RAIDs (Windows) are a little different and Encase can read the disk configuration from the OS drive's (cannot be on the RAID) registry.

Overall Encase has worked very well for me in reconstructing RAID arrays of both types.
