Hello,

I have a question in regards to a RAID 5 array using different brand named/model drives.

I have 3 hard drives of a distinct manufacture and model, if I use a different model number as the previous model drives are no longer made from the same manufacturer (in this case its Seagate), will the RAID array will be more or less redundant or will it be the same in redundancy regardless of model drive?

The only really import thing is the capacity of the drive. As long as the drive is the same, or greater capacity than the original, I would expect it to work as it did originally.

However, RAIDs can be implemented in many different ways so there is a very small chance that the above may have issues (possibly relating to speed of drive), so do test first.
