I have a question on Real Player link files located under
%useraccount%\application data\real\realplayer\history
Are these link files ONLY created when a media file is played?
That's what I'm assuming and I'm setting up a virtual machine right now to test it. I would like other users input though, that would be great!
I wasn't able to find anything through the search feature either.
Thanks for any input guys!
From my test I see that it is only adding the link files to the history folder once the media is played in realplayer.
I figured this was so but I guess it's always good to be sure. I also checked using the "Add Media to Library" feature which of course only adds the media to the real player database and adds no link files.
If anyone has any other input I'd love to hear it.
Hi
I had this issue with a previous case and as far as I remember my results were the same as yours - only created when played. In addition the created date, last written date and accessed date of the lnk file relate to realplayer.exe as opposed to file the realplayer software has opened. Is this the same on your tests?
Cheers,
Tom
Yes, exactly. The dates update only on the link file unless the original file is accessed directly. Meaning if the media is in the media library and it is played from there it does not modify the dates on the original file, only the link file.
Thanks for the reply!
