Odd question mebbe, but …………..

One of our users (now an ex-employee) replaced the internal drive on his laptop with another one in Feb this year. The original one appears in setupapi.log and \system\ControlSet002\Enum\IDE\ as a ST9160414AS which is a Seagate drive.

In April, another ST9160414AS drive appears in setupapi.log and seems to have been connected to the laptop via a JMicron JM20337 Hi-Speed USB to SATA & PATA Combo Bridge.

Question - is there any way to verify that these are one and the same drive? I have a ST9160414AS from the user, much of it has been deleted or wiped (haven't delved that far yet), there's no setupapi.log (and no hives either) so I'm depending on the newer drive for all info.

Can anyone help?

Regards
