recover deleted items from an Outlook 2003 OST

Is it possible to recover deleted items from an Outlook 2003 OST file? the items were not deleted in the normal fashion but rather programatically deleted when being moved into a document management system. A few months of emails did not successfully move into the DMS and are now missing from the person's mailbox. The times were moved some time ago and they cannot be recovered from the exchange server or backup tapes at this point so I want to see if it is possible to get them from an OST file locally on the person's hard drive. Any suggestions?
