Okay, so maybe this isn't such an often performed method…

But how would you go about after "extraction", with the extraction?
Step 1. Shower for the USB?
lol
I'm yukking it up with some of my colleagues over that story right now.
Isn't this the project you assign to the "lowest person on the totem pole"? )

Ewwww
I vote this be the subject suggestion for the next person asking for a dissertation title …

Ah, yeah! Do we suggest they swallow the USB? And do we suggest that be a WD 320GB drive or just a small flash drive? …
I think the 320GB is way more entertaining to read up on…
"Doctorate student attempts to swallow hard drive for dissertation studies"…
Eww, that would be a very intresting situation. I imagine a lot of anti-bacterial soap was involved.
Hope we never have to experience this one

If I was working there, that would be me so! I'm only 3 weeks into my new forensics job )
On topic though, I'd say there is every chance they would recover everything off this drive. I know stomach acid is pretty potent, but in respect to tough plastics and metal, I'd say it takes a while to break down. And from my basic experience, most flash drives are (kinda) waterproof as there are no moving parts, so as long as they are left to dry out, they should work again!
Hope the results from this investigation get put up there, would love to know the outcome!
