I have a Motorola G4 (XT 1609) that is password locked. We attempted a password extraction using UFED and it tripped the factory Reset. Is it possible to recover any usable data using ISP, or after the factory reset is the data gone? I would have to reach out to another agency in our area for assistance with the ISP, so I wanted to check before I bothered them. Thanks

This phone was released with Marshmallow on board…. if FR was tripped then ISP, ChipOff will not helps - as passcode writes data is gone.

Worth a try …..but in 6.01 (and UP) Android GC mechanism works quite effective and fast…. especially if Hardware Reset was triggered and it was NOT normal Data Erase/Delete.

Thanks for all the responses. At this point, I am going to expend the effort on seeing what backed-up data there is in the cloud.

@sasha Could it work also for an Android 9 based device that was factory resetted? I have seen from his specifications that it came with Android 9 from the factory, so I don't know actually which update was installed on the smartphone when the user resetted it...

Nope, it won't work. Any Android 9 device once wiped, it's wiped. People, please understand how things work, this is not gimmicks or something time will solve! Since we talk about encrypted data, once the keys are gone, it's not a question on how to decrypt something, but how to regain or recover the keys! Which I say that on Android 9 is impossible. For now 🙂
