I have a tape backup that was created using backup exec GRT backup methodology. The EDB from the exchange (2003) server was not backed up as an EDB file as the backup is designed to be restored to an exchange server. I've created a Duplicate Backup Set of the entire tape and now have a bunch of BKF files. Does anyone have any experiencing exporting mailboxes from this type of environment and if so how did you go about extracting the mailboxes from the backups? One thought is to restoring the BKF files to a virtual or live exchange server using Backup Exec and then using exmerge or NEMX to carve out the mailboxes.

I am not allowed to take the tape offsite so that method is out.

I apologize in advance for the likely missing info. in this post and thank you in advanced for your assistance.

Hi!!

We had a similar situation in our office some while ago.
We tried Lepide Exchange Manager for our cause and it worked well.

The product can easily look into your previously backed information store and can restore the selected items back into the Live Exchange Environment.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks, Piyush
