Options for full disk encryption on UEFI boot Windows PCs are quite limited (unless your version includes BitLocker).
There is an option on Samsung laptops to enable a HDD Password which they claim 'will not let anyone else access the hard drive'. But I can't find any mention of encryption.
Does anybody know, does this HDD password setting actually encrypt the HDD, or is it simply an access password - meaning someone can image the hard drive and have access to all the data?
Usually it is proprietary Full Disk Encryption or some controller crypto chip built in. Both have the result of not being able to do anything easily if you remove the HDD from it's original environment, imaging the data will result only garbage.
If it is important and you need it decrypted, drop me a PM.
