Hello,

The device is Samsung S5230 without memory card
State pictures delete followed by hard reset. Power off, battery removed or discharged.

My question is
I need to recover pictures which was stored on this mobile.
Does a hard reset will definitely destruct deleted data ?
So, Is it possible to recover or dump data from the internal memory ? By which means with a reasonable cost ?

My skills
- Able to build computer connectors for jtag or other on mobile.
- Able to sold, not removing the full memory chips.
- IT and electronic skilled, but not in the filed of forensic.

Thanks for your help.

You can dump this handset using Twister Box which will recover the contents of the flash chip and carve the pictures out however file fragmentation on the chip may well cause you some issues.

Thanks for your answer.
Well I could have chance if some pictures data are not too much fragmented.
I might be able to search for pictures Begin Of File Hex pattern. then use another program to redraw partial pictures. Hoperfully, I have a backup of few images which was taken by this mobile, so that I can analyze the format and try to get a pattern at least for the BEOF Hex.

I will have to buy both Twister Box and associated software..

Does it sounds worth to try ?

Regards

Coligulus is correct here. For more information about Twister box you can look here
http//www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/twister.htm
It is a good box that offers support for a wide range of phones should you want to use this box on more handsets in the future.

For the file hex signatures check out this site
http//www.garykessler.net/library/file_sigs.html

It will list all the headers (and footers) that you can use to carve out the images you are looking for.

Regards.

Hello Doug,

Nice to see that was I had in mind is the right way (header patterns).
About the Twister, not only one brand is sold on the net, one from BKforensics and the one you advertised N-BOX UFS 3. This one is cheaper.
Well the story comes possible now. I'll order one box and report the forum about this case.
Thanks again.
