Is there a recommended SATA interface card with 4 or more ports that is favoured by most users of this setup?

I've tried a Sonnet E4P - which is supposed to work with both Mac OS and Windows Server 2003 - but when running Windows on the Mac, it just doesn't allow the card to start.

Vista installed on the Mac Pro identifies the card and reports it working fine, but I still cannot access any drive attached to it.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Duncan

I've successfully managed to get this card working under Mac OS, Server 2003, XP and Vista - all installed on the Mac Pro.

Minor issue - it's not e-SATA hot-swap. However, it treats a drive as if it were attached to an on-board controller, requiring no initialisation at all, so probably eminently suitable for write-blockers.

However, www.span.com do a "generic" two-port PCI-e card that supports port multipliers that *does* support hot-swap.

This, too, works on the Mac Pro running OSX and various flavours of Windows.

Hopefully someone will find this useful.
