I hope this is the correct sub-forum to post this…

A new version of Scalpel has been released. We have wrote about a number of the features and download information on our blog

http//dfsforensics.blogspot.com/2011/04/announcing-scalpel-20.html

The new version has tremendous speed advantages over Scalpel 1.6 as the new version has

- multi-core support
- performs asynchrnous file I/O
- can use CUDA capable cards to perform processing directly on the graphics card

It is of course open source and the download contains pre-made binaries for people that just want to get directly to trying it out.

Hey Attrc, thanks for the work you put into Scalpel. It's great to have another tool to use both for it's own sake and as a check against other tools.

For any who may be interested, I posted a quick and dirty test of Scalpel and Foremost, nothing scientific and your mileage certainly may vary. I have no dog in the fight, except that I use both dogs. )
