I have now run into two of these encrypted drives in the last three weeks. They seem to make good paper weights when locked. Anyone else?

Some of the key benefits and features provided by DriveTrust technology include
*Drive pairing, which allows users to lock a drive to a specific system, preventing a hard drive from being pulled out of a system and installed elsewhere.
*Secure partitions, which enable hidden storage, accessible only by DriveTrust technology-enabled software applications.
*Secure erase and disposal, which simplifies and secures hard drive disposal and reuse to allow technicians to safely repurpose or dispose of the drive.

Searching around on the web turned up some information from Wave Systems Corp. on TCP, the trusted computing platforms, and their product, EMBASSY® Trust Suite. This suite, among other things, provides password management and TPM key backup/recovery. Unfortunately it is only useful in an enterprise when it is deployed. Stand alone systems, much like with BitLocker may be locked forever.
