Hello.
What are you using to deliver to a client a searchable set of data?
Example.
Client wants you to take the hard drive and then of the data they want from that image (keywords, emails, documents, etc.) they want it given to them in a format they can search by word or maybe even date.
Dtsearch with spider? (its $199 a copy though) and if that client wants to pass it to other people within the company to look at, then more copies.
Any suggestions?
Bear in mind there's also a dtSearch Publish product which allows you to publish indexes to a disk without the need for the recipient to have dtSearch Desktop. It costs 2500 USD for the right to make 250 copies.
Having said that I'd generally encourage clients to obtain a dtSearch Desktop license the interface is far more robust and flexible than that available using dtSearch Publish.
Are you saying if you have 20 clients you would ask each to purchase it, or that you would purchase a copy and 20 would come off the top of your 2500?
Can you explain how that would work in your opinion say after the imaging process (insert your tool of choice here)
Thanks

I have supplied raw data on DVD and walked the recipient through installing Windows Desktop Search (or adding the new content to the existing WDS installation) as a means of searching the data.
For ease of use, I would recommend Adode PDF format, this is searchable and most computers have a reader installed. Just break large datasets into smaller peices.
Another option is to setup a VM with LogMeIn installed. I have used this and had a client review data and tag information in particular programs - with some instruction and not anything to hard to use. This way you have it localized, controlled and can add data as needed.
What would be the procedure for this with say 900GB of data?
I'd think this might work on small data. But I wonder how much extra time it would take to prep.

Thanks Doug, very rarely will I be able to use LogmeIn with any Attorney clients.
Also this has to be cost effective, making a VM, installing LogMeIn, setting up an account, teaching them how to do things, they are already overworked and not tech savvy. adds lots of additional hours as well as explaining that everything will be secure and safe.

I second the dtSearch Publish.
Buy a 1TB drive, load the data, load the dtSearch Publish distribution, and you are done. It is a local web interface.
Or, get dtSearch Web, and then you do not have to ship anything, and it is "simply" web interface. you will have to implement your own security.

The latter case you buy a Publish license and, if desired, you recharge costs to the client (e.g. 10 USD per published media) as your quota is depleted.
