Hi - need quick help please.

Using latest Caine and AIR 2.0.0 to try to raw image recent Toshiba laptop.

Problem 1
When mounting drives using Safe Mount cannot see source drive to mount it ????
Using Disk utilities determined source as sda (250 GB) while the destination 1TB can be seen and mounted.

Problem 2
Use media/sda as source and sdb/file.raw on external store as destination and start process (MD5 set only).
Process finishes after 250 GB but nothing saved on USB drive (am certain it was set to r/w but am repeating to confirm).

Any ideas anyone? Used standard BIOS to set to CD boot - was straight to h/drive.

Could just be me working too late on a Sunday evening but ………………

Don't know if this is the problem or not, but some the Toshiba laptops have full disk encryption (FDE), like the TECRA R950.
Did you check the model and the specs?

Many thanks for input.
Yes, am assuming FDE using SecurStar SecurBoot product now marketed as DriveCrypt. Don't know anymore than this at the moment.

Sorry, shld have mentioned this before as it seems this product uses pre-boot authentication which I assume is why CAINE and AIR can't see the hard disk as a potential 'source' drive (AIR doesn't even list it!).

Any ideas how to at least achieve an encrypted raw image in the hope that the key is found at some point?

Many thanks
