Running Mac OS X Lion/Fusion6.1.0/SIFT Workstation 2.14

I am trying to create and output a dd image from an external mac drive to another external drive attached to the mack and shared.

I'm using ftkimager (though I've also tried ddrescue) and the problem is that while the shared read-only source drive is found easily, the external shared drive is listed only in /media and has no /dev listing.

The second drive shows as shared in the sharing properties window, and isa accessible through the guy…

Frustrated because this would seem to be both simple and common…

Any other suggestion which will get me an image of the drive on a different external drive will be great too. Most of the info I can find relates to the Windows version and is useless to me…and I'm neither a mac nor a linux guru.
Thanks!

Haven't used Fusion before, but using VMware Workstation under Windows, the shared folders setup through VMware are accessible at /mnt/hgfs/

Hope this helps.
