I observed today that when I entered Sleep on my laptop via the Windows Start button and then awoke it using the Big Button, System Event Log contained tens of thousands of errors within a couple of seconds of each other, all with Source = WudfUsbccidDrv and Task Category = Driver

The description reads
Device responded with an error status.
Status ReaderCompletionUnknownMsgType

This effectively wiped out the System Log (there was nothing in the log pre-dating these errors).

Long story (involving many iterations with devices connected and disconnected, and a few restarts) short, I found that disabling the SmartCard Reader solves the problem but this is just a workaround. This has not happened before on my system (I have entered Sleep in the last 14 days and observed behaviour) and apparently I have the latest driver so I was wondering if anyone out there has come across this and ID'd a permanent solution that doesn't involve disabling the SmartCard Reader?

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit

Cheers
