Does anyone know where the handset code is stored on the handset. I have analysed the GDFS, but it does not seem to be saved there. The handset is a sony ericsson C902.

From what I've seen it's not stored in the GDFS.
You can reset it with SE-Tool, if you/your OIC is happy to take that risk… - but I'd try it on a test handset first!!
Some tools give the code out willy-nilly - but they tend to be early models (and earlier security models).
