Greetings,

I have a Sony Ericsson W595 that has a very strange power issue.

With its original battery inserted the handset wont power on past the Sony Ericsson logo, if I use the mains charger it tells me that the battery cannot be charged and that i must use a Sony Ericsson battery.

The battery and charger are both originals that came with the handset

I tried the battery in another handset and it worked fine but was low on power so I charged it through the replacement handset and then tried to use it in the original again this time the handset wouldnt power on at all.

I then tried a new battery that I know works with other handsets and again the problem was the same as the original.

Now the strange problem is once the battery is down to almost empty the handset will power up fully but only for a minute or so before it says "low battery" and powers off. This is the same with the original and new batteries.

When I do manage to ge the handset to stay on for a minute or so I have been able to see the call logs, sms, mms etc so I know there is data there to retreive. I managed to get a partial read of the call logs, contacts and sms but the media files and mms are not supported by XRY and the handset wont connect to either Oxygen or CelleBrite.

Any suggestions on getting the the data out of this handset would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Have you tried disassembling and re-assembling the handset checking for dust dodgy connections etc.?

Was your 'new' battery bought from a reputable source? I note you didn't write anything about testing the battery in the spare handset you used to charge it. If your 'new' battery is also faulty it may seemly charge fine but then depleat very quickly.

Hi,

Yea I tried disassembling and cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner but still no change.
The batteries we have here are all manufacturer originals and work fine in our test handsets. The original battery also worked fine in the test handset.

What about trying a variable DC power supply? This would hopefully verify whether it is the battery or handset maybe?
