Folks, can anyone provide a pointer to what is considered current best practice in terms of capturing digital evidence from the web, in particular highly volatile sites like social media platforms? I have found quite a lot of material and pointers (including here on FF) but nothing from within the last few years.

Thanks

Michael

Please check out Page-Vault (https://www.page-vault.com/).

Page-Vault's proprietary system preserves chain of custody because the captured data goes to their servers.

It is possible to edit a web site's content before capturing a page to a local forensic workstation, which is not good obviously.

Page-Vault's system takes that editing option off the table.

The interface is very user friendly as well.

http//library.college.police.uk/docs/acpo/digital-evidence-2012.pdf

Appendix B, describes the position in England and Wales.

Just bear in mind this was written in 2010 as far as I can recall (published 2012).
