I'm attempting to map tower coordinates in an armed robbery case involving a combination of Sprint voice and SMS records. I've discovered that the NEID and Repoll #'s listed for the SMS transactions are not contained in the tower location spread sheet. All that is listed is the NEID and Repoll #'s for the voice transactions.
A conversation with Sprint has revealed that they do not maintain location information for SMS tower transactions at all, even though the appropriate data is listed in the call record spread sheet.
Can anyone tell me if they've experienced this issue before? I'm guessing that the SMS transactions were handled by a "SWAT" since they occurred in the Metro Detroit area and that's why Sprint told me they don't record the location data. Or, maybe I'm not asking the right question?

As far back as I recall Sprint have always maintained that position that they do not show the cell tower that routed the SMS message to the fixed network in the call detail records. Whether that will continue in the future I don't know.
Thanks for the input… This seems to be the consensus I'm receiving.
