So you are saying you can "depend" on it to NOT detect steg when it is done with cosine trans from an unknown program.
So, you can "rely" on it to miss those and get the others….

I'm not saying that you can "depend" on it to NOT detect steg done in the DCTs. It DOES detect unknown steg programs when done in the DCTs. It does not detect them all though. I said it missed SOME DCT embedding.

Your original question was

True…but is it reliable?

That is the question here.

Depending on how you define the term "reliable", but by my definition if it misses SOME dct embedding, and also gives lots of false positives, I wouldn't call it reliable.

…and bring it full circle by checking out post 6 (6th down from the top)…

I checked question 6.

- Has anyone here used this software?
- How reliable did you find it?

Now lets bring it full circle and look at post 7. It's obvious from my post that I have used it. And how reliable it is I also answered that question.

I really don't know why I bother with forums. [Removed by moderator]

lol
ah…you read my last post…but ignored the smile )

This thread should have been closed after post 2…
I understand your comment, just understand that I was just having a bit of fun….seeing as using the word "reliable" to talk about software is sooooo ridiculous I figured I'd treat this thread as such.

So, in keeping with the fun.
I invited stegdetect over for dinner, and the j**k was 2 hours late!
He isn't as reliable as I first thought.

haha

— software does exactly what its coded to do, and furthermore, it will always do the exact same thing with the exact same input ALL the time till the end of time (unless you some how change the program…but then that new program will behave the same way).
And you can rely on that…because thats what the bloddy computer does (follow instructions precisely over and over really really fast).
—- Hell, that is the reason why computer forensics works. You can "rely" on the computer to do what people tell it to do.

Smile man…its just fun with words.
Have a good day,
