I have a lenovo thinkpad which is encrypted with symantec pgp desktop. When you boot the device you first see the symantec pgp desktop asking for user name client id before the windows can even boot to user login screen. The credentials to decrypt the laptop is not known. I tried to use the symantec recovery disc but it didnt help, i plugged it on a linux system i used dislocker also didnt work when i open it in gparted it says unknown file system, has anyone encountered this issue before if yes how do i go about it if no any suggested option

A fully functional full disk encryption only makes sense if someone without a password can`t access the hard drive content. No credentails and no recovery key means no access. A brute-force attack is still possible, my recommendation in this case would be https://www.passware.com/kit-forensic/
