Has anyone tried the new Tableau T9 FireWire to image a Mac ?

I want to image a Macbook Pro so I used the T9. Connected everything and I'm able to see the dive in Vista. However, when I use FTK Imager (I tried versions 2.5.5 and 2.6.1) to create the image, it run for about 15 seconds and then hangs. After a couple more seconds, I get an error in FTK Imager (Failure The specified network resource or device is no longer available.) Also, the Tableau Disk Monitor does not see the drive anymore after that. I have to restart the T9.

Since Tableau does not offer direct customer support (kinda stupid if you ask me…) I'm waiting for my reseller to help me with this but he does not seem to know much about the device either…

In the meantime, if anyone has ideas, feel free to post!

Thanks!

When you are saying you can 'see' the Mac are you running in Target Disk mode? We found that Windows in general sometimes has problems with TDM mac mounts and use bootable disks like Raptor instead. You also should make sure you are using the 9 pin firewire 400 or full FW800 connection, not those mini ones. The mini ones seem to have problems with the voltages handed over in TDM.

Beetle,

thanks for the reply.

Yes I'm running Target Disk Mode. Windows can see the Macbook's disk because I can see the Boot Camp partition pop-up in Auto-Play and in Tableau disk monitor can see the full 200 GB drive.

I'm using Full FW800 to do the transfer.

I guess I could use Raptor but we bought those T9 specially to easily image Macs in a Windows environment…
