Hi,

Anyone with field experience using TD2? It claims it can duplicate at 9GB/m, but that's beyond SATA 3.0 specification (6G).

Thank you,

AK

9GB/min = 150MB/s which is under the limit of SATA II 3Gbps and SATA III 6Gbps

It's the difference between gigabits (Gb) and gigabytes (GB). Gb is mostly used for data transfer speeds, GB to measure data storage. A gigabyte is 8 times larger than a gigabit.

The TD2 claims to be able to image up to 9GB of data per minute.

SATA 2 transfer speeds are up to 3Gb per second (or 300MB per second, around 18GB per minute).

It's not a particularly useful or simple convention using Gb and GB interchangeably like this, but there you go!

Hello,

Thank you for bringing up this subject. I am considering purchasing the TD2 as well, along with the Ultrakit package from DigitalIntelligence http//www.digitalintelligence.com/products/ultrakit/. I am in the process of setting up a new DFE lab and I have the opportunity to choose my hardware. I can see the value in acquiring two simultaneous images; one drive would go directly to the evidence locker and the other would go directly into a hot-swap bay in a FRED for analysis. This process would free a laptop at the scene or in the lab that could be used for other purposes. With a price tag of $3k for the combo, I want to be certain I am getting a reliable piece of equipment that has been validated in the field. I am looking forward to reading about what others have to say about the TD2.

Best Regards,

Dave

Don't be expecting to actually see those speeds unless you've got SSDs or a RAID-5.

It will be worth the wait for the TD3.
