I'm asking you to stare into your crystal ball and give me your opinions on where you think digital forensics is going!

My Unit was once called computer forensics which included network forensics. Then cell phones and other assorted devices were added and we changed to digital forensics.

I ask, with the proliferation of encryption and internet stored data where are we going? It seems to me that its inevitable that in the next several years there will be very few devices that we will be able to access. Is internet forensics part of digital forensics or is it a separate discipline with a separate set of skills?

Interesting perspective, would you care to give more detail? Perhaps explaining why you think so?

To answer the OP, I think perhaps we will see a shift to far more pro-active forensic investigation; more requirements to visit the "crime scene", increasing use to surveillance/interception legislation (e.g. RIPA, or your local equivalent), and more direct access to cloud/remote storage.
