The number in cookie filenames... anyone?

OK, now this is a total guess, but I'm convinced that the brackets at the end of the cookie name are used by the website developers to delimit separate sets of instructions. Cookie[1] requests one set of data whereas Cookie[2] requests another. I'm not sure but why else would actual examples contain totally different sets of data within them? A website developer could answer this question very quickly, I presume.
