Mark,

You might send pre-paid long-distance cards to your father. Your father could call anyone from anywhere without having to call collect.

Then, switch your security system to cell-phone and say "Goodbye, Landline!"

I have been using VoIP for about 7 years. It is great and I pair many of the features to my mobile devices so the same numbers ring certain devices and the caller ID will always show me "in the office" )

The prison does not allow my father to call me via any method other than collect calls from their carrier at a hugh cost ($30 or so a call).
