Hello.

I develop program ThumbnailExpert. The program finds files of a thumbnail cache created by the various picture browsing and photo editing software and allows to view their contents thumbnails and a metainformation.

At present I require testers. After release of the final version I will give to the most active testers the licence. Any remarks are important that it is necessary to add, that it is necessary to remove, that it is possible to make more conveniently and etc. If it is interesting to someone, the program can be downloaded here.

What a useful appllication! I will share it with my fellow examiners.

My comments follow

-Progress indicators and current filename are very helpful. Keep them!

-Suggest that it might be helpful to provide an obvious indicator–such as a search results (artifacts) folder–that appears after a search. It took me a few seconds to browse and find the search results. Not a big issue…just promotes usability.

-Suggest displaying errors such as "..cannot access…file in use…" in a format that does not require a mouse-over. The lower right area seems a bit small to display errors.

-Suggest renaming "Search in" to "Search Path" or "Search in Location"

-Suggest making "Search in Drive" and "Search in" children of your "Search" function, instead of peers, in the File dropdown menu.

-I like the context menus.

-The adjustable three-pane layout is nice and user-friendly.

-You probably already have plans to do this Adding GUI icons with mouse-over tips on a toolbar might be helpful. Provides quick access to functions, instead of having to click on dropdown menus and then select the desired function.

-I love the graphic in your Help menu!

Good luck and keep up the good work!

Thanks for your remarks!

I will think how to improve it.

-Suggest displaying errors such as "..cannot access…file in use…" in a format that does not require a mouse-over. The lower right area seems a bit small to display errors.

There the text of an error returned by system is shown. Probably, in the future I will show the other laconic text on the basis of an error code.

-Suggest renaming "Search in" to "Search Path" or "Search in Location"

Ok

-Suggest making "Search in Drive" and "Search in" children of your "Search" function, instead of peers, in the File dropdown menu.

I have not understood. Can you explain this suggestion in more details.

-You probably already have plans to do this Adding GUI icons with mouse-over tips on a toolbar might be helpful.

Yes, you are right. The customised icon panel will be added in the future.

-I love the graphic in your Help menu!

I love it too )

Suggest making "Search in Drive" and "Search in" children of your "Search" function, instead of peers, in the File dropdown menu.

What I meant by making them children is putting them on a sub-menu that is accessed when you select the "Search" function in your File dropdown menu. I just envision "Search" as your main category and "Search in Drive" and "Search in Path/Location" as sub-categories. It's not necessary to change it. I just like to organize things that way, myself.

I hope this helps. Thanks for taking the suggestions on-board.

Have a good weekend!
