Hello Forensic Focus Members.

Alot of Our Clients don't want us using TrueCrypt anymore due to the fact that the site says it is no longer secure etc..

I wanted to see what FREE Alternatives are out there that everyone is using.

I want to have the ability to create full encrypted containers just like TC.

I checked out AxCrypt but it looks like that only encrypts per file and does not have the ability to create a container before hand. Is there any new "Standard" that is approved by all the forensic gurus?

Please post any suggestions as it is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

-Corey

we've been using AEScrypt, it seems to work pretty well and is more user friendly than truecrypt.

I might be wrong, but I believe that TrueCrypt 7.1a is still safe to use.

An alternative I have been looking at is https://ciphershed.org/ which started out as a fork of Truecrypt so you still may wish to avoid.

Also worth looking at is https://diskcryptor.net/wiki/Main_Page

Another good alternative is Symantec Drive Encryption, but that is a PAID alternative.

Try BestCrypt at http//www.jetico.com/

BestCrypt was recommended to me by an ex-LE forensic professional and is working well.

Of course, you could always rely upon this guy to protect your sensitive data

VeraCrypt seems to be an interesting fork from TrueCrypt with lots of enhancements; https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/

I don't think anyone has shown TrueCrypt to be flawed. Despite the public audit.

And the relevant xkcd comic.

I would second that.

Very nice! thanks for all the options. After research and testing it looks like we are going to go with Veracrypt for all future deliverables!

Much appreciated!
