Its actually a micro USB on these drives.

Indeed it is an integrated USB port on the Drive. This type of drive has been driving the data recovery guys crazy.

I found this link on a data recovery forum that may be helpful if you suspect the integrated USB bridge has died and you want to try to tap into the SATA interface that is still on the circuit board

The procedure doesn't look too difficult BUT you should be comfortable with a soldering iron and messing with electronics.

Also beasleyjt - the cable for passports, and the one you linked to is a micro. Mini is larger.

Yeah, that is why I put mini/micro, couldnt remember which interface it was. As for the link..it was jsut an example of the ones we had purchased.
