Hi,

I’m due to graduate from a Forensic Computing degree in May 2009 and i am really interested in working in the states. However, with the sensitivity of the field are there any specific requirements or qualifications I would need to pursue this and to gain security clearance?

Also, bearing in mind I will be a graduate, what is the likelihood of getting employed?

Being employed in the field and getting a security clearance are mutually exclusive. Getting a job requires a work Visa. Getting a security clearance requires citizenship.

There are jobs, but the market is a little tough unless you have experience.

I was involved with a large USA investigation recently. Being British I was not allowed to see any 'active' tapes, and would not have been allowed to visit the location the tapes were being processed at.

In US terms, I count as an alien. I think this counted as one end of a broad range of possibilities. Other times I've just had to agree to confidentially agreements, as one does with many investigations
